Forgot to post this the other day. Ben Marwood is a really great songwriter and one of the nicest musicians I’ve had the good fortune to share the stage with. In this interview Ben gives myself and Adam Bennett a brief mention after we played on the same bill together on the first two shows of mine and Adam’s tour back in January/February. Needless to say this caused my head to swell for at least a whole day. Don’t worry, normal service has resumed and I’m now back to hating myself again…
Here’s a video of Exceptions from the Dead Set’s first gig, in Brighton a few weeks ago. I uploaded it for the band to see but given the poor quality (my camcorder struggles in dark conditions) I wasn’t originally going to share it with everyone. I might delete it at some point, especially as the band will no doubt get better and this will wind up seeming a bit rubbish in comparison. I think we sound pretty damn good for such an early performance though so I thought I’d post it. This video also features a brief special guest appearance from Jaquima the dog, who overshadowed the entire gig by being a bit too cute in her quest to eat Barry’s (Oxygen Thief) pizza.
I’ve only recently discovered Fucked Up (I’m often late to discovering great music), but I totally love them and you should to. Their new album ‘David Comes To Life’ is seriously good. Do yourself a favour and check them out (if you haven’t already of course) – davidcomestolife.com
Here’s a video to cheer you up on an otherwise dull Monday at work. Witness some behind the scenes footage from the recording of Frank Turner’s new album, including me rightly being called a motherfucker. Thanks Frank!
Anyone who knows me or follows this blog or my sorry excuse for a twitter feed will probably know that I totally love Naomi Hates Humans. Not just because Naomi is a friend, but genuinely because I think she’s a great songwriter and the various line-ups of the band have always been really fucking good.
On Monday at The Macbeth in Shoreditch, the new 5 piece Naomi Hates Humans played their first gig. Needless to say, it was awesome. A bunch of indie bands played before them and while all perfectly capable, they were utterly destroyed by Naomi and band whose set was in a different league entirely.
I took my trusty camcorder along and filmed the whole set for them and I’ve made this lovely playlist for the people of the internets to watch. Go on, take a peek…
