So despite losing my band, there is one good thing still and that’s that I can still play solo and not be reliant on other smelly musicians!
As such I’ve just started planning my next tour and the hope is to visit quite a few new places. I’m going to be heading out in February with Dave Hughes and Adam Bennett and it should be ace. Very rough dates are below. If you can help at all please get in touch, or expect a begging call/email from me soon!
Thurs 3rd – Midlands/North – This would be me and Adam Bennett on the way to Scotland
Fri 4th – Dundee
Sat 5th – Edinburgh
Sunday 6th – Glasgow
Mon 7th – Ireland
Tues 8th – Ireland
Wed 9th – Ireland
Thurs 10th – North West England (or Wales)
Fri 11th – SouthWest England (or Wales)
It is with a little tear in my eye that I have to announce that Mr Jon Zarych has left The Dead Set. Boo! It’s entirely amicable, but please rest assured that I will harbour resentment that will slowly eat away at my otherwise cheery veneer for the rest of my life.
Jon’s reasons for leaving are personal, but mainly led by the fact that his double life as Major Cuddles, international sex pest, have now caught up with him and he needs to flee the country immediately before the police catch up with him. I shouldn’t really be typing this, but then, it’s not as if many people read my humble blog anyway. It’s either that, or he’s dedicating the rest of his days to selling the remaining copies of In Search Of Apollo’s CDs. Tee Hee.
It also looks likely that I’ll be parting ways with Steve too, though we’ve not confirmed anything at the moment. Double boo.
What this means is that I’m now actively looking to put together The Dead Set mk2. So, if you’re interested in playing bass or drums for me or indeed any other instrument (I’m up for adding anything that might expand the sound if it works) please get in touch. Alternatively, if you think you might know someone who fits the bill, please spread the word. The only real criteria is that I’m London based, so anyone up for it would need to be in the general area. We’re talking a raw three piece electric punked up version of my songs.
So yeah, fuck the royal wedding news today. This is the real shit. We should have a day of mourning at the loss of Mr Zarych. To be serious for a brief moment, it’s been a total pleasure playing in a band with both Jon and Steve and they’ve helped push my music forward in ways I’d never thought possible and given me my first entirely positive experience in a band. Weird eh…
